Four-Time Emmy Award Winner Rhea Perlman to
Co-Star in YouTube Red Series

Joins YouTube Creator Eva Gutowski in Comedy Directed by Academy Award Winner Luke Matheny
LOS ANGELES – November 1, 2016 – YouTube Red today announced that Rhea Perlman has joined the cast of ME AND MY GRANDMA, their upcoming half-hour comedy series. Perlman, a four-time Emmy Award winner, will co-star with Eva Gutowski, who is also known as the popular online personality MyLifeAsEva. Also joining the cast are Kayla Ewell (“Vampire Diaries,” “10 Year Reunion”) and Shelby Rabara (“Goliath”). Academy Award winning director Luke Matheny has signed on to direct this new six-episode series that will be distributed on YouTube Red in 2017.
In this buddy comedy series, college-grad, Janey Skaleki, played by Gutowski, and her Grandmother, move to Hollywood to make it as actresses. Perlman is best known for her role as Carla Tortelli in NBC’s longest-running hit comedy, “Cheers,” and most recently starred in TV Land’s “Kirstie” and Hulu’s “The Mindy Project,” among others.
Matheny was most recently showrunner on Amazon’s “Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street,” and previously wrote, directed and starred in “God of Love,” the short film which won him the Academy Award® for Best Live Action Short in 2011. Matheny’s feature film directorial debut was “Lovesick,” a 2014 romantic comedy starring Matt LeBlanc.

Other key roles have been cast by notable actors including Kayla Ewell and Shelby Rabara. Ewell is best known for her role as as Vicki Donovan on The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” she has recently been featured on “The Night Shift” and “Grandfathered” and just starred in the Lifetime movie “10 Year Reunion”. In “Grandma,” Ewell portrays Victoria, a budding actress and rival to Gutowski’s character Janey. Rabara is best known for providing the voice of Peridot on the Cartoon Network series, “Steven Universe.” In “Grandma,” Rabara plays Heidi, a lesbian barista-performance artist who lives next door to the title characters.
The show is executive produced by Ms. Gutowski and SelectNext’s Adam Wescott and Scott Fisher, along with “How to Survive High School” writer Annie Stamell and showrunner Jill Condon, whose producing credits include “Friends,” “The Cosby Show” and “Grounded for Life.
